NEW ADVENTURE

Today I had a trip with Erasmous to Leuven. It is a capital city of the province of Flemish Brabant in Belgium, which is like 30 minutes far from Liege or from Brussels.

On this day we had a perfect weather for a little wander acros the town, and I was really happy, I could enjoy it, without holding my umbrella under my head. You know, it's not very usual to have sunny days here, because this is very rainy country. (Reconsider when you are making a choice of the place you want to live in ;) )

Anyway, we had a tight schedule, with a guided tour we visited: "Hôtel de Ville" - Town Hall, "Eglise Saint-Pierre"St Peter’s Church, Old market, Library tower and "Grand Béguinage" Great Beguine Convent.

WELCOMING CHRISTMAS

We got to experience a little bit of Belgian traditions with this parade of people dressed up in costumes of Zwarte Piet , "Sain-Nicolas"and so on.

THE CITY HALL

The two buildings which are on a list you definitelly must see, is this gorgeous City Hall, built in a Brabantine late Gothic style between 1448 and 1469 and across the Main Market square it is St. Peter's Church build in the same period of time as the City Hall.

They are trully something!

ON A WALK

THE UNIVERITY LIBRARY

Old books, long tables, quiet and peace surrounds you ( I even was scared to walk in there with my squeaky boots, that is how quiet was inside.). This is really a place for fancy studying, so, if you got bored of noisy and overcrowded rooms in your library, come here and experience a bit of history in this old University Library of Leuven. This Carnegie library was build in 1920s for a replacement of ruined one after Worl War I.

I love how everything was carved into the wood to create some interesting sculptures ( like is one on the photo above) or geometric shapes and interesting silhouettes. It was very inspiring.
