The beginnings are always rough, but even when you expected it, it still

surprises you when you actually live it...

I won't lie to you.

I want to share what it’s like being an Erasmus fashion student, and what comes after that...

Things began with my first French classes in Verviers. They were four hours per day, five days a week. I only knew what I had learned years ago, in high school, when I spent half a year on an exchange in Canada. But Canadian French is not Belgian French, so my knowledge basically amounted to nothing.

The first week was the hardest, because I was moving to a new apartment, in a new city, in a country whose language I didn’t speak. Being pessimistic, however, is a waste of time. The experience was something I needed, because it prepared me for what came next: studying at a French language University.

It was a pleasure to realise how lovely people are here, and how willing they were to help me. The first weeks were a little rough, but eventually I got to know the city and its centre.

I love taking pictures; I must’ve looked like a silly tourist, but I couldn’t help it. Liège is so photogenic! The city turned out to be a very inspiring place that never ceases to surprise me. Social events, exhibitions, stunning architecture: this city has it all. It’s always lovely, and you will always hear somebody greeting you, bonjour, randomly, even if they don’t know you. It has really made me feel welcome.

These famous stairs has 374 steps and every year in October are light up by hundreds of candles. This event is called - La Nocturne des Coteaux de la Citadelle.
